Born of Silence By Sherrilyn Kenyon

Born of Silence, the newest entry in The League series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, just blew me away.
She takes a character we've always known one way and has him do a 180 degree turn. Darling is completely believable and I absolutely love him.

Darling goes by many names, we know two of them, Darling Cruel and Kere, the name he has taken while he works with the Sentella, who are working against the League and helping the Caronese Resistance fighters against the ruling family--his.

Darling's father was murdered by his older brother, who then took over the empire and basically took Darling hostage for many years. Darling protected his mother from an archaic law and by that one act, took on a lifetime of abuse and punishment at his uncle's hands.

The only thing good in his life (when he escaped his uncle for short periods of time) was Zarya Starska. Head of the Resistance and daughter of a family murdered by Darling's uncle. Zarya has fallen in love with Kere and has no idea that he is actually Darling. When Darling asks her to marry him, then goes to rescue his family before they get married, fate takes a horrible twist and they almost lose each other forever.
Only Maris (Darling's best friend), is willing to take a chance that Zarya may actually be able to bring back the Darling they all know and love from the absolute brink of insanity.

You have to read the book. I can't tell you any more than that without giving it away--it's far to good a read.
I love nearly everything that Ms. Kenyon (The AG) writes and reread her series repeatedly. Always a good read and I always find something new I missed the last time around.
If you like The League series and have somehow missed this one, please, pick it up. It's highly worth it and I will be looking out for the next one, which will be about Dancer Hauk,
